Vocational Educational Training (VET) in the Horeca sector and learningdigital work together to educate a wide audience on how to avoid and manage food waste.
This is why a wide array of partners in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Belgium, initiated and completed this project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme in January 2024. The project is also co-developed by an even wider network of important European-based ambassadors. Furthermore, there already 23 associated partners with a global reach from both business and other organisations.
There is no better way to push for action and create awareness than through education. The project is finished, but important work is ongoing.
Overall, we are proud of what we have achieved:
- the design of the Green-Skills Curriculum for the VET aimed at the Horeca and agricultural sector
- the creation of a hands-on manual for preventing food waste
- and the creation of an e-learning hub with courses on food waste management and food waste prevention.
Learning is fun; therefore, we created competitions and interactive activities to engage with our target groups. For example, add your recipe and calculate the CO2 footprint. It’s fun and revealing.
Dissemination of our results is key. Our focus is now on training more trainers and learners in food waste management and prevention. For use, not only in their daily life but as a standard part of the training curriculum in the agricultural and horeca sectors. The project partners continue putting pressure on the wider community and politicians to support the “Rethink, Reduce and Reuse of Food.
Learningdigital’s contribution is manifold. Combining expertise as educators in the VET sector and our passion for digitalisation brought the project to life with the website and eLearning modules.
